A note on FFP masks

The main function of both masks is the middle layer of meltblown cloth. This layer is made up of polypropylene fibres with a diameter of 0.5 to 1 micron.

FFP is the European standard. FFP2 stands for more than 94% for 0.3 micron particles, FFP3 for 97%.

 


The FFP1 mask requires a minimum of 80% filtration efficiency for both oily and non-oily particles, which is slightly lower and not suitable for use in the current epidemic situation.
