Why should I wear a mask?

Masks can reduce the spread of coronavirus droplets when coughing, sneezing, and talking.

The main reason for wearing a mask is to protect others from coronavirus infection, not to protect yourself.

When worn correctly, they should cover the nose and mouth, which are the main confirmed sources of infection.

They can help reduce the spread of the virus from people who are contagious, including those who are asymptomatic or have not yet developed symptoms.

There is also evidence that they can provide some protection to the wearer, although they are not a substitute for social distance and hand washing.
